CDF Defined

Career Development Facilitators (CDFs) work as highly trained and skilled professionals and paraprofessionals in diverse settings. They have completed the Career Development Training Institute's 120 hour training curriculum and been certified through The Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. (CCE).

To become fully certified, a CDF must verify that she or he has met experiential and educational requirements. Further, the CDF must formally agree to abide by a Code of Ethics and consult regularly with a CCE approved counselor or supervisor. The field of career development is growing rapidly, so is the demand for trained, Certified Career Development Facilitators. CDFs may be individuals who work in:

• Career Resource Centers
• JTPA programs
• Employment Services
• Business and Industry
• One Stop Career Centers
• Schools and School-to-Work Programs
• Vocational Rehabilitation
• Employee Assistance Programs

The CDF training program has been endorsed by the National Career Development Association, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, the American Counseling Association, the National Board for Certified Counselors, and the National Employment Counselors Association. By becoming certified, the Career Development Facilitator gains:

• Recognition as nationally certified professional
• Enhanced skills and knowledge, immediately applicable on the job
• Training designed for the working person and the lifelong learner
• Eligibility for national certification through The Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc., a sub-division of the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc.
• Experiential and didactic instruction from a nationally registered instructor
• Opportunities to network with other career development professionals
• The ability to join the National Career Development Association (NCDA) as a full member for only $50 per year
